Kids-Crafts

As a mother of four I know the value of the world of kids-crafts and children. Not only are crafts fun to do but they teach children to be creative and express themselves. You don’t even have to be crafty to enjoy making things with your children.

When we were kids, one of the most basic craft projects we learned to do is coloring with crayons and markers. This is something great to do with children because you can find many educational coloring book pages.

Instead of just having simple construction paper pictures on your fridge, you may want to think about encouraging your child to do more complex projects. Use pictures to decoupage or make them into greeting cards.

As grandmother I love getting birthday cards featuring drawings from my grandchildren!

You can use crafts to teach your children about the importance of recycling and how they can use recycling to make beautiful objects, newspaper for paper mache projects and create candles out of old crayons.

You can go online maybe ebay and purchase some craft books to give you plenty of ideas on how you can recycle things like tin cans and tissue boxes, things that you would normally throw away, and make wonderful projects out of them.

Craft projects don’t have to be expensive or even messy or difficult. They can be simple and easy but because you are doing them together, they can be extraordinary.

For example: Greeting Card Bookmark

Material you will need:

Used Greeting Cards Posterboard or Cardboard, Crayons, Markers, or Paint Glue

Cut a strip from the posterboard or thin cardboard, about 8-inches x 2-inches. Cut out the picture on the front of a greeting card. Glue the picture at the top of the strip. Allow the glue to dry.

Write an message on the strip if you want. If the bookmark is a gift, you can simply write "to" and "From". If your picture is a Christmasy picture, write a Christmas message on your strip.

To make your bookmark more durable, cover it with clear contact paper or laminate it.

So gather the children or grandchildren around the table or in the yard as you open a whole new world to them to be creative and express themselves.

If you notice that your child is taking a real interest in art and crafts you may want to get them enrolled in classes so that they can enhance their skills and embrace that aspect of their world.
