Be Energy-Efficient And Save Money

Being energy-efficient is one of the best ways to save money and help global-warming at the same time.

Most of the energy we consume in our homes is produced using a processe that release carbon emissions into the air.

Carbon emissions are the most significant cause of climate change, so reducing your home energy use is one of the most important things you can do to fight climate change.

Focus on changes that you can implement one time and that will then automatically reduce your ongoing energy consumption.

Energy-efficient appliances are easy to find and aren’t necessarily more expensive.

Look for appliances showing the Energy Saving Recommended label as these are among the top 20 per cent most efficient available.

If every household in the country installed high-efficiency appliances,the energy saved would be enough to provide heating and power for almost two million homes.

Nearly half of the heat in a typical home is lost through the walls and roof.Install roof and wall insulation.

Even when they are not in use, many appliances like televisions and VCRs continue to use small amounts of electricity for things like their clocks and instant-on features.

If you have un-used appliances, such as a TV or clock radio in a guest room, pull its plug and then only plug it in on those rare occasions when it is going to be used.

Some people have gotten into the habit of leaving their computer and other home office equipment on all the time. This wastes energy and money. Turning on and off the computer doesn’t shorten its life.

So, if you are going to be away from the computer for several hours, turn it off. In addition, make sure that any power-management features are activated, such as having the screen go dark after 15 minutes of no use.

If you do all or some of these you will see a difference in your electricty bill. Add up the savings from these and other things you are doing to save money and you will see it add up to more then just a little savings.
